This apartment block was built on the site of the former Nuffield Hospital. It was named in honour of John Brodwell, a prominent local politician, solicitor and musician, who died in 2003. As well as being chairman of Horsforth Civic Society and member of Horsforth Town Council, he was the chairman of the Leeds Philharmonic Society, who sang a his funeral and memorial service - see his obituary on their website here http://www.leedsphil.org/JSB_WharfeTimes.asp
