On OS MapOL43 Hadrian's Wall there are two farms in very close proximity of each other called Old Town and both are in different grid squares. Keys to the Past Web Site: Part of a range of farm buildings at Old Town is a bastle and date back to the late 16th or early 17th century. It has been altered in later years and was partly rebuilt in 1984. A barn is dated 1821 on the door lintel. The only remains of the bastle today is a very thick east wall, over one metre wide. The other walls are much thinner and probably date to 18th century remodelling.
