The West Coast Main Line crosses this bridge on the outskirts of the village of Newton, in Wamphray Parish. Very occasionally one sees heritage steam on the line. These are two black fives (LMS Class 5MT 4-6-0 no 45231 Sherwood Forrester and LMS Class 5MT 4-6-0 no 45407 Lancashire Fusilier) returning south (with just two support carriages) having pulled the Glasgow-Inverness leg of the Great Britain 11, The Railway Touring Co's railtour, April 2009.
