The hedge on the left, and the broad width of Holewell Lane here, marks the old alignment of the lane, through the gate and across the A30 to join Hooperton Lane at Bowden Cross, opposite Hask Lane. The road to the right, which joins Hooperton Lane at Hole Cross, was straightened when the A30 was built, and so lost its hedge on the north side.
