One feature of railway operation that had disappeared by the turn of the century was the parcels train carrying newspapers and individual parcels (as distinct from the mail train carrying franked mail in bulk). Here, locomotive no 47853 is shunting the evening parcels train into a platform at Bradford to be loaded up.
