The 1960/70's housing development known as The Spinney is build on the site of Leamington's first railway station. It was opened in 1844 as the terminus of a single track line from Coventry. After the line was extended through to Rugby in 1851 the station moved slightly to the south west and became a through station - for more details see Image Today's Leamington Spa - Coventry line is the other side of the railings behind the lamp post in the centre of the picture.
