Newquay was once a rather staid and distinctly respectable family resort. Its discovery by the surfing fraternity, however, gradually changed all that, and the town now caters relentlessly for the 18-25 age group with an astonishing proliferation of night clubs and late bars. Many of these are concentrated in this part of the town.
