Owbridge's Lung Tonic factory, known as "The Laboratory", on the north side of Osborne Street, Hull. Owbridge's Lung Tonic, popular as a cough mixture among fishermen, was not subject to consumer protection legislation and was advertised as a cure for "all affections of the chest, throat and lungs" including asthma and tuberculosis. The factory opened in 1895 and closed in January 1972. Between 1990 and 1993 the façade and clock tower of the old factory were incorporated into a housing scheme of 35 flats called Owbridge Court, owned by the Sutton Housing Trust.
