According to one history Little Matlock Rolling Mill has been a rolling mill since 1864. The date on the facade reads 1882. The mill is still in use, producing specialist jobs for the aerospace, oilfield engineering, bio-medical implants, defence, architectural, construction, electronics, and marine industries. The water-wheel was still in use until 1957.
