Right on the border of Birmingham and Smethwick (it's the wrong side - in Birmingham) this is one of the 'old' landmark pubs. At the back there used to be a 'cellar bar' with live music (I'm talking mid-1960's now). One of the regular groups (you'd call them a band now) was 'The Spencer Davis Group', which later spawned Traffic led by Stevie Winwood. I seem to remember The Moody Blues with Denny Laine also played there - but I may be wrong as it was a long long time ago in a galaxy now far far away.
