Captain Lancelot Todd was killed in a road accident on November 14th. 1942, while returning from Home Guard duties. The Lance Todd Trophy is presented to the Man of the Match at the Challenge Cup Final. The Trophy belongs to the Red Devils Association, the official body representing ex-Salford players, and it has been awarded to the Man of the Match at Challenge Cup Finals since 1946. He arrived in England with the 1907 New Zealand tourists, and was signed up by Wigan, for whom he played 185 matches. He transferred to Dewsbury in 1914, and went on to become team manager at Salford. The grave (his wife's family grave) is beside the main path into the Cemetery, on the left. The site of a former chapel can be seen beyond it in this view.
