This was taken from the corner of Western Road and Mona Avenue and looking right towards the ‘new’ entranceway to Westways, the former Western Road Secondary Modern School. Further down the road there is also access to the Juniors and Infants School, which these days is called Primary. Back in the ‘40s and ‘50s, the outside toilet block was very unsanitary. At the bottom of the hill, Mona Avenue takes a 90º turn to the left and becomes Mona Road and goes on to meet Springvale Road.
