This scene will soon be quite different, the North Norfolk railway are to put back a level crossing here in January 2009 joining the North Norfolk railway to the Bittern line. Funding has been obtained and permission gained from the authorities. The level crossing will have no barriers being just a track across the road to the other Sheringham station, it will be used a maximum of 12 times a year for visiting engines and rolling stock. A major plus of the crossing is rail tours can now visit the town in quiet and busy periods, resulting in 500 or so tourists visiting Sheringham, Weybourne and Holt. This means many economic bonuses for local businesses and the railway itself, all arriving in an environmentally friendly transport method. The locomotive number 34081 is now 'out of ticket' meaning its ten year boiler ticket has run out, it is now stored at Weybourne depot waiting funds for overhaul.
