This building started life in 1845 as a British School. Later, it was used as a Sunday schoolroom and, today, as a community centre. It is the meeting place for the local branches of the Young Farmers'Club and the WI and also the venue for the Marian Glas Chair Eisteddfod (a chair eisteddfod is one step above an ordinary eisteddfod in that it includes the ceremony of chairing the winning bard) A plaque on the front of the building commemorates Hugh Griffith, the rumbustious Hollywood character actor and a Marian-Glas lad. www.screenonline.org.uk/people/id/497454/index.html
