Mickley Weir gets steeper and higher the further river right you go, so the usual line for paddlers is river left just where this kayaker has aimed. In high water like this, the stopper trough is quite deep ! In these conditions, more timid paddlers aim further left, close to the tree and the canoeist standing with the throw line in this photo.
