A small section of metal fence with concrete posts is all that remains of the north-western emergency exit to the former airbase. I don't know the purpose of the wooden enclosure in the foreground, which would have been outside the restricted area but is probably more recent anyway. Now there is a small car park to the left and it is a popular access point to the open commonland and nature reserve, well used by Newbury's population.
