In the middle distance, diggers are clearing the ground after demolition of the Sir Frank Whittle building (formerly C Block) of Coventry University. The building was constructed for the Lanchester College of Technology in the 1960s and housed the engineering department workshops. During demolition in February 2009 a wartime shell was discovered, requiring temporary evacuation of the immediate area (the shell was later declared non-live).
