The Black Horse at Spon End is listed as a tavern in Pigot's 1828-29 Directory, with John Rammage as licensee. Interestingly, John Rammage is also listed as a 'shroud manufacturer' in Spon End. The building was listed grade II in 2011 as 'rare surviving example of a relatively simple and modest Victorian public house'.
