The Borders College Hawick Learning Campus at Buccleuch Road, Hawick, was completed in the summer of 2008 at a cost of £4.5 million. It is located on the lower part of the former Hawick Cottage Hospital site. The new building includes a learning centre, construction workshop, an IT suite, teaching rooms and office space. With Hawick High School nearby, it is hoped that close links will be developed between the school and the college. The old Hawick Cottage Hospital, built in 1884, is in the background on a high part of the site. The new Hawick Community Hospital, opened in 2005, Image] replaced this 19th century building. The college has planning consent to convert the old hospital into residential property, but the building remains empty and boarded up for now.
