This "Motte" was always known as Johnny Browns Fort as it was on the farm owned by the said Johnny Brown. I had always been told that it was a "fairy Fort" and that there was a hidden tunnel inside of which there was a crock of gold. I,and many of my friends had searched in vain for this pot of gold only for the said J.Brown to give a great "gulder" at us and send his old collie up the lane to see us off.
