From October 2004, every business, large or small, had to become more user-friendly for the around 10 million disabled people in Britain. Disability Discrimination Act 1995 & Disability Rights Commission Act 1999 (the Legislation) introduced new laws aimed at ending the discrimination of disabled people. The Disability Rights Commission Act 1999 establishes the Disability Rights Commission (DRC), which was formed in spring 2000. The DRC is a body that helps facilitate and encourage the aims of the 1995 Act. Under the Legislation, any business or service used by the general public, has had to make changes since the Legislation was first introduced in 1995, and that's why the stepped front entrance of the Post Office has been blocked up and a level entrance made in the left-hand side of the building.
