This 14th century building is in Argyle Road opposite St. Bartholomew's hospital. This quote is from the West Berkshire Council guide to prominent buildings in the town: "Early Tudor house adopted as the manor house of Bartholomew Farm, the Newbury estate of John Winchcombe (C. 1489-1547) ("Jack of Newbury"), the prominent Newbury clothier. Originally a 14th Century farm house with an upper storey added in the 15th Century."
