Lord Byron was born George Gordon. The famous fifth Lord Byron was born in London but his mother took him back to Aberdeen as a baby, and he lived there until he inherited, aged 10, the title from his great uncle. The school suffered a bad fire since this photograph but the damage to roof and tower has been made good.
