Behind the pedestrian is a plaque stating that this market was opened in 1913 in substitution for the old one (since demolished) in St Peter Street (at the top of today's main market). Unfortunately it's not very clear as to what the plaque refers to and from the following old photographs it looks like the old market is actually the low buildings mostly out of shot to the left, and not the large warehouse type building with the red doors! http://www.georgeplunkett.co.uk/Norwich/mid.htm#Mount
