A complex of individual businesses housed in what was originally Robert Bird's factory where he employed 180 people. Because of the amount of flax that used to be grown locally, Crewkerne was known for its sailcloth, webbing and cloth manufacture. A speciality was sailcloth for racing yachts such as HMY Britannia, the Endeavour the three Valkyries, etc, as well as some American yachts competing in the America Cup.
