This busy road was seemingly built with a wide central strip. The trees provide a green block in summer and absorb traffic noise. The houses on the right are typical of many in this area. They were built on land formerly part of Insole Court, which was compulsorily purchased by Cardiff Corporation in 1932 to enable a new orbital road, Western Avenue, to be built. Conditions in the purchase meant that the houses built had to be of high quality, with values in the £600 to £800 price range! The area has kept its character and remains a very pleasant suburb, with many green areas. With thanks to the booklet "Insole Court", published by the Friends of Insole Court, see http://www.insolecourt.org.uk
