Looking across the A38 dual carriageway with the houses of Lower Dean on the left. On the right the large grey roof of the Dean Court Farm Shop Image can be seen, with the white painted Dean Court farmhouse visible to its left. In the centre distance can be seen the pale coloured spire of Holy Trinity Church at Buckfastleigh Image, that is a prominent landmark along a long stretch of the A38. In the wooded hillside in the centre is Whitecleave Quarry. Quarrying stopped some years ago and now it is used only as a depot by a local bus and coach company. New proposals to use it to process and reclaim demolition material have raised much protest because of its nearness to homes in both Dean and Buckfastleigh, with concerns over the return of dust, noise and extra lorry traffic.
