The curving of the houses on the right give an indication of the former route. The branch was opened in 1887 and was popular until it began to lose out in competition with motor vehicles and eventually closed in 1938. Viewed from the western end of Aldrington Station which was built to serve the branch and was named Dyke Junction Halt between 1905-32 when it was given its current name.
