The church is perpendicular. The "Odcombe Leg Stretcher", Thomas Coryate (c1577-1617), chose to hang up his shoes inside the church after walking literally thousands of miles around Europe and later even further afield to India. He wrote journals and letters about his travels including "Crudities hastily gobbled up in five month's travel, newly digested in the hungy air of Odcombe". His shoes disappeared many years ago.
