Built in 1851-53, St John's was designed by R C Carpenter who was also responsible for Lancing College. The knapped flint buildings give it a forbidding look which may have been the original intention. Looking up College Lane to its junction with Chalkers Lane. Beyond that it becomes Malthouse Lane and continues on to Burgess Hill.
