Looking north along the Oxford Canal at Brickyard Bridge (bridge number 112). Note the feature on the towpath against the bridge (left of photo): these are 'stop planks' and can be dropped across the canal in slots under the bridge to form a temporary dam in case of leakage or to drain the canal for maintenance work.
