This house was the Red Lion Inn in 1837. It was acquired in 1876 by Captain Freke Lewis, who had been left the 1700 acre Abbey Dore Estate. He turned the inn into a large family house for himself and his wife. The garden, which is open to the public, has been created from scratch by the current owner since buying the property in 1967.
