Chalk Pit Inn

Originally offices for Offham chalk pit which operated from the 18th century to its closure in the 19th century. The pit was also the site for the first railway opened in Sussex, a funicular tramway with a 60% gradient that carried lime down to barges on a small canal linked to the River Ouse below.
