The new village of New Ash Green was designed in the 1960s by Eric Lyons with a "finger" of Kent countryside reaching into the heart of the village. Here the Minnis forms a central village green that connects the shops and other facilities by footpaths through the recently restored apple orchard and a meadow to woodland and the countryside beyond.
