Shown here is A. N. Paterson's "Rural Seat", which dates from 1932, and is located at the corner of Station Road and Main Road. Above the seat is a plaque with an inscription, which reads as follows (the spelling "intrusted" is the one used in the inscription): "For the use of the village and intrusted to its care, this seat was erected by the Cardross Branch of the Scottish Women's Rural Institute 1932 AD." The plaque shows the SWRI emblem (Image), which is repeated on the back of the seat: Image
