West Runton railway station has won several awards for best small and best unstaffed station > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1084700. The bridge seen in the background carries Station Road over the railway line. The concrete station name sign - see also > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1084687 - is a product of the M&GN works at Melton Constable and is one of only a few (perhaps the only one) still in existence. William Marriott of the Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway manufactured ferro-concrete fence posts, and from 1915 signal posts, at Melton Constable.
