The bus is a single decker operated by FirstGroup. The manufacturer of the bus body is Caetano, a Portuguese company founded in 1946 by Salvador Fernandes Caetano. The first exports to the UK were in 1967. The company as it now exists continues to manufacture bodies which are mounted on different chassis to meet the needs of customers. Bus services in London, in part at least, bear both a letter and number. I believe the 'U' in this instance refers to Uxbridge. I recall travelling on a bus numbered 'P3' some years ago in South London. I deduced then that the prefix 'P' represented Peckham. The tree behind is the one mentioned in this image http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1082275
