56049 brings a train of coal hoppers off the Coalville line onto the branch for the power station. Drakelow Power Station closed in 2003 and was demolished from November 2005, with the last of its cooling towers being brought down in September 2006. The branch was lifted except for a short headshunt. There are currently plans to build a gas fired power station on the Drakelow site.
