Ancient moat

This ancient moat is now nothing more than a pond - and in this particular shot, a frozen one. The photo was taken from the corner of a path past Image The moat used to be in the garden of an old house, Dosthill Lodge, known to us as children as "Basfords" after the two old ladies, the Basford Sisters, who lived there. The house, along with a wonderful 1/4-circle curved brick wall is now long gone - but this little bit of moat, which probably predates even that house, survives.
