The cottages are seen through the abutments of the vanished railway line which disappeared in the Beeching cuts of the 1960's. This single track line ran from South Brent to Kingsbridge, and was very scenic as it ran alongside the River Avon for much of the way through Gara Bridge and Loddiswell.
