This extraordinary looking contraption is an outdoor exercise machine near the car park at the Springfield Lane entrance to the park. Four people can use it at once. There are two places where you can pedal your feet up and down, getting the same beneficial exercise as riding a bike, but without the boring necessity of going anywhere. The two other places require the users to stand on the circular platforms, which can revolve around. By grabbing onto the circular device near the top of the pole to steady themselves, they can then swing their hips from side to side with the aim of reducing their waistline. A friend kindly demonstrated these activities to me, but I have yet to see anyone else use the machine. Seeing all four places in use must be a fascinating sight. These are definitely dry weather activities!
