The Briars Hotel closed in 2008. The main building is Victorian and it seems it was a pub for at least 50 years, later adding accommodation facilities and a restaurant. The flat roofed annexe on the left included the Tub-tim-siam Restaurant & Take Away. That has also closed. There is some hope that the Briars Hotel may re-open as a public house.
