The house which once stood in the middle distance of this view was the home of the Bland family and had one of the longest frontages in the country – more than 600 feet. It was abandoned in 1929 and demolished in the 1950s when the area was opencasted for coal. http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?resourceIdentifier=2008618_167000
