Well known pub & restaurant in Stanpit. Landlady in the late C18 was notorious smuggler Hanna Siller; contraband could be brought to the back of the pub by boat: http://hengistbury-head.co.uk/frameindex.htm Nowadays, the pub is better known for its seafood. I haven't eaten there, so can't comment; reviews seem mixed. But who could challenge the views of the doughty Ladies who lunch in Hampshire? http://www.ladieswholunch-in-hampshire.co.uk/theshipindistress.htm Cask ale available: Ringwood Best, Adnams Broadside & Arundel Sussex Gold.
