Boxwell Springs Lock

This lock was added to the canal some 3 years after the canal first opened in the 1780s, and the pound from here to Image was lowered by 3ft 6ins order to improve the water supply available from the nearby Boxwell Springs. This is why this lock has a relatively small fall when compared with others on the Thames and Severn Canal. The chamber was restored between 1993 and 1995.
