A hydraulic accumulator is nearest the camera. The spindly tower in the centre background is a riveting tower that allows boilers to be riveted vertically. The riveting plant would have been hydraulic, hence the accumulator. An enclosed riveting tower survives near Huddersfield. There were a couple at Cradley Heath but they have gone.
