The Camden Town Odeon stands on Parkway just west of Britannia Junction. The name is often said to be an acronym for 'Oscar Deutsch entertains our nation' - Oscar Deutsch being the founder of the cinema chain. Whilst this is both amusing and apt, in fact the name was adopted from the original Odeion of Herodes Atticus, a theatre in classical Athens; the acronym was dreamt up later.
