Built in 1910 in a Jacobean style the building's most notable resident was John Galsworthy who resided here between 1926 and his death in 1933. He completed The Forsyte Saga whilst living here. The house later became a residential home for the elderly originally run by West Sussex County Council, then privately. Since 2005 the house been restored and is currently divided into top of the range flats based on the original layout of the house.
