I've walked past this curious building in Gledhow Valley woods many times. It's good to finally see what it looks like inside. Maintenance work was being carried out in readiness for the 2008 Heritage open day. (Sunday 14th Sept, 12-4) Gipton Spa Bath House constructed by Edward Waddington of Gledhow. Edward Waddington was the son-in-law of Alderman John Thwaites, who lived at Gledhow Hall, and died the same year the Spa was built. Edward Baines' Leeds Guide of 1817 states that "Gipton is a small, pleasant village, 2 miles from Leeds. Within the wood is a cold spring with a small bathing house attached Gipton spa bath is a grade 2 listed building.
