Sign for the Three Crowns, Whaddon

There is a story to this sign. It is thought to recall the fact that in 1357 Edward III hunted in nearby Clarendon Forest (which had at that time a palace only to be rivalled by Westminster Palace) with two captive guests, the King of France and the King of Scotland. Another theory is that the inn is named after the three kings of the Nativity.
